BSc in Biology (Zoology) in 1995 and PhD in Marine Sciences in 2005 (Free University of Brussels, Belgium); Post-graduation in Statistics in 2016 (Lisbon School of Agriculture, Portugal); Post-Doctoral researcher at IPMA, funded by post-doc grants since 2005 (FCT and PNAB/DCF); Area of work: Marine Biology; Developing work in reproductive biology and ecology applied to fisheries of marine small pelagic fish, with expertise in histological/microscopical analyses; Scientific co-coordination of the Daily Egg Production Method (DEPM) surveys applied to sardine and horse-mackerel in Iberian waters (EU/DCF funding), and carrying on research within the framework of this methodology; Coordination of the research work and stock assessment of chub mackerel; Member of five ICES (International Council Exploration Sea) expert working groups (WGs) related to surveys directed at small pelagic fish and to the provision of biological parameters, participating to the WGs annual meetings and reports elaboration; Participation in 6 national and international scientific projects (task coordinator in 1 project); Co-authorship of 15 peer-reviewed scientific works, 2 book chapters, and more than 40 technical-scientific reports and working documents; Co-supervision of 5 students (1 MSc, 1 BSc, 3 Erasmus) and participation to the evaluation panel of 4 academic dissertations (3 PhD, 1 MSc); Participation in 18 scientific conferences/symposiums/workshops, and co-authorship of 20 oral/poster communications. Regular participation in research surveys at sea directed to pelagig fish assessment (total ~200 days at sea).
