Margarida Cristo, Professora auxiliar da Universidade do Algarve e investigadora do Centro de Ciências do Mar. Fez o doutoramento em 2001 em Ecologia de Comunidades. Durante todo o seu percurso académico e científico dedicou-se ao estudo dos crustáceos: primeiro aos crustáceos decápodes, em Moçambique onde esteve como investigadora entre 1978 a 1984, depois como investigadora e docente da Universidade de Lisboa dedicou-se ao estudo do caranguejo-verde (Carcinus maenas) e desde 1992 na Universidade do Algarve manteve o seu interesse neste grupo de crustáceos tendo realizado o seu doutoramento no estudo da dieta alimentar de lagostim Nephrops norvegicus. Desde 1996 passou a dedicar parte do seu tempo de investigação aos crustáceos de charcos temporários mediterrâneos , os Grandes Branquiópodes. Esta é no presente a sua principal área de investigação, onde tem vários trabalhos publicados. No projeto LIFE Charcos é responsável pela componente do estudo dos grandes branquiópodes. Margarida Cristo, Assistant Professor at the University of Algarve and researcher at the Centre of Marine Sciences (CCMAR), did her doctorate in the subject of Community Ecology in the year of 2001. Throughout his academic and scientific career devoted her interest to the study of crustaceans: first decapod crustaceans, in Mozambique where she worked as investigator from 1978 to 1984; then as a researcher and assistant professor at the University of Lisbon dedicated to the study of the green crab (Carcinus maenas); and since 1992 in the University of Algarve and CCMAR has maintained her interest in this group of crustaceans, having done her doctorate in the study of the diet of Norway lobster Nephrops norvegicus. Since 1996 she devoted much of her time to the study of the biology and ecology of the great branchiopod crustaceans from Mediterranean temporary ponds. This is at the present her main research area, where she has several published works. In the LIFE Charcos project is responsible for the component of the Great Branchiopods study.
