Luísa Margarida Martins got her Chemical Engineering degree (1990), PhD (1996) and Habilitation in Chemistry (2015) from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), University of Lisbon, where she is Associate Professor. Luísa Margarida Martins is an Integrated Member (since 1992) of CQE - Centro de Química Estrutural - of IST. She is the coordinator of the thematic line SYNCat - Synthesis, Catalysis and Reactivity - and member of the Coordination Commission of this Centre. She is also member of the Research Core Team and of the Executive Committee of the CATSUS - Catalysis and Sustainability PhD program. She published 190 articles in specialised magazines and has 13 patents (WO, EP and PT), 14 book chapters and 1 book (editor). She has supervised 15 doctoral theses. She supervised 29 master's dissertations. She received 6 award(s) and /or honours. She participates and / or participated in 36 projects (8 as a Principal Investigator). She works in the Inorganic Chemistry area with an emphasis on Catalysis. In her professional activities, she interacted with 434 collaborators in co-authoring scientific works. Her research focuses on the application of the principles of chemistry and green engineering in the innovative design of sustainable products and processes of industrial significance such as the sustainable synthesis of large-scale commodities (e.g., acetic and adipic acids) or the production of fuels from captured carbon dioxide. Her main interests also include molecular electrochemistry.
