Lisa Schüler holds a BSc and MSc in Life Science, University of Hannover, Germany and a PhD in Biotechnology, University of Algarve, Portugal. In her PhD work in the MarBiotech group (Center of Marine Sciences, Portugal), Lisa studied the improvement of microalgae with the focus on high-value compounds using physiological and genetic approaches. With her profound knowledge in microalgal biotechnology, Lisa joined the GreenCoLab to develop new products and pipelines to the algae producing companies to improve algal production. Currently, Lisa is leading the strain improvement group

2020/02/10 - 2020/02/14 The workshop on function and omics analysis of carotenoids in the scope of the EUROCAROTEN Cost action was organized by the University of the Balearic Islands, Palma de Mallorca, Spain. Presentations of experts provided knowledge about health benefits of carotenoids and how to design projects to study the positive effects of a certain carotenoid consumption. Afterwards, projects using different models (in-vitro/in-vivo) were designed and presented to experts in the field.

2019/10/28 - 2019/10/30 Chromatography and mass spectrometry are very powerful techniques. Their use in Marine Sciences is currently under expansion. The Analytical and Structural Chemistry Platform of EMBRC.PT has developed several protocols for the identification and quantification of bioactive molecules in marine matrices. These Knowledge Exchange and Training activities will give an overview of liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry methods to researchers and demonstrate their potential in Marine Sciences by running specific examples.

2019/04/08 - 2019/04/10 The training school on analysis of carotenoids, was organized in the scope of the EUROCAROTEN Cost Action by the Royal Holloway University, London, UK. The course provided an overview of the approaches used to analyse carotenoids including chromatographic separations and detection methods (e.g. hardware platforms) and data analysis. The laboratory work included extraction procedures and analysis of carotenoids. The course was round up by a mini symposium with experts in the field including flash presentation of trainees.
