P. Campinho completed his undergraduate studies in Microbiology and Genetics in 2005 at the Faculty of Sciences, Lisbon University. Subsequently, he pursued a Ph.D. at the Max-Planck Institute for Cell Biology and Genetics (MPI-CBG) in Dresden, earning his degree in Developmental Biology in 2013 at the Institute of Science and Technology Austria. During his Ph.D., Campinho made significant contributions, demonstrating that tension-oriented cell divisions play a role in facilitating epithelial spreading by fluidizing tissues, as detailed in his 2013 publication (Campinho et al. 2013 NCB). For his first postdoctoral position at the Institut de Génétique et Biologie Moléculaire et Cellulaire (Strasbourg University), Campinho developed a noteworthy live-imaging quantitative analysis method called 3DcylindricMap. This method allowed for the tracking of cell positions in cylindrical tissues. His research revealed that endothelial cell extrusions associated with hematopoietic stem cell generation are influenced by blood flow forces and PKD2-dependent mechanosensing, as published in 2018 (Campinho et al., 2018 Philos Trans R Soc Lond B Biol Sci) and 2020 (Campinho et al. 2020 Cell Rep). In 2020, he started as a senior postdoctoral researcher conducting his independent research line in the Vascular Morphogenesis Lab at Instituto de Medicina Molecular. In 2022, he transitioned to a role as a microscopy and imaging specialist at the Champalimaud Foundation in Lisbon, supporting fellow researchers with their microscopy and imaging projects. Throughout his career, Campinho acquired expertise in cell and molecular biology, biophysics (tissue mechanics), live microscopy, and data analysis. He authored eight peer-reviewed publications, including original research papers, a review, and a book chapter. Campinho's research efforts were recognized through several fellowships, including a Ph.D. stipend and several postdoctoral grants. He actively participated in international meetings and events, presenting his work and contributing to the field. His career reflects a commitment to advancing our understanding of developmental biology and tissue mechanics.
