Vitor Monteiro is an Assistant Professor and a PhD Researcher, performing activities in the Department of Industrial Electronics, University of Minho, Portugal. In 2010, he received the MSc degree in Industrial Electronics and Computer Engineering and, in 2016, he received the PhD degree in Electronics Engineering and Computers with a specialization in Power Electronics and Energy, both from the University of Minho. Nowadays, he is the Principal Investigator at the University of Minho of the: (i) European Union Project “E2GO: Researching new cost-effective solutions for battery buffered fast-charging station (No. 101072414)”, which is a European-funded Marie Sklodowska-Curie Doctoral Networks; (ii) National Project “ATE Aliança para a Transição Energética (C644914747-00000023 / 56)”, which is an Alliance for the Energy Transition in Portugal. He was the Principal Investigator of an FCT project (POCI-01-0145-FEDER-030283). His research activities are being developed in the ALGORITMI Research Centre, University of Minho, where he is an Integrated PhD Researcher in the Industrial Electronics R&D Group and, within that, he is a member of the Group of Energy and Power Electronics. He is an IEEE Senior Member, Chair of the IEEE PES (Power & Energy Society) Portugal Section Chapter, and Member of societies: IEEE IES, IEEE PELS, and IEEE PES. His main research interests are related to power electronics applied to Electric Mobility; Renewables; ac/dc Grids; Power Quality; Active Power Filters; Solid-State Transformers; Wireless Power Transfer; Railway Systems; Energy Storage Systems; Smart Grids, Smart Cities, Smart Homes; Artificial Intelligence for Power Electronics; Green Hydrogen Applications; Aerospace Applications. The research in these areas resulted in more than 70 power electronics prototypes (involving hardware design and construction and software programming). He is the author or co-author (with referee) of: 78 international journal papers, 173 international conference papers, and 10 book chapters). He is now the supervisor of 3 PhD students and 32 MSc students. He was the supervisor of 1 PhD student and 57 MSc students. Since the conclusion of his PhD, he participated in the jury of 4 PhD Thesis and 36 MSc Dissertations. In the Scopus database (September 2025), he has 231 papers, 3153 citations, h-index 29. In the Web of Science database, he has 151 papers, 1746 citations, h-index 20. In the Google Scholar database, he has 321 papers, 4496 citations, h-index 34. He is Associate Editor of: IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics; IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems II: Express Briefs; IEEE Access; IET Power Electronics; IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering, SPRINGER Control, Automation and Electrical Systems. He is Editorial Board Member of the journal ELSEVIER Transportation Engineering, Topic Editor of the Journal MDPI Electronics; Editorial Board Area Editor of the Journal EAI Endorsed Transactions on Energy Web. He served as an international reviewer for 3 projects, 551 journal papers, and 262 conference papers. He participated in 60 international conferences (with 54 oral presentations and 10 posters). He acted as 4 General Chair; 3 General Co-Chair; 10 Member of Steering Committee; 7 Member of Organizing Committees; 47 Member of Technical Program Committees; 1 Publication Chair; 11 Organization of Special Sessions; 22 Session Chair. He participated in the preparation of more than 30 national and international project applications.
