Diogo Peixoto holds a PhD in Animal Science from the Institute of Biomedical Sciences Abel Salazar – School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (ICBAS), University of Porto. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the Aquatic Animal Health team at CIIMAR. Since joining the A2S team in 2018, Diogo has participated in several research projects in the field of nutritional immunology, using model organisms of economic relevance to the aquaculture industry. His PhD research focused on the immunomodulatory, neuroendocrine, and metabolic effects of amino acids through dietary supplementation, as a strategy to improve the health and welfare of farmed fish. Diogo Peixoto is the first author of 9 papers published in international peer-reviewed journals and co-author of an additional 15. Over the course of his career, he has received four awards and honours and has contributed to 17 research projects, including one as principal investigator.
