David Jacinto holds a PhD in Biology (2016) and a Bachelor's in Biology (2004) from Universidade de Évora, where he is currently a researcher. He has co-authored 30 journal articles, one book chapter, and one book, and holds a registered patent. He currently supervises 2 PhD theses and 3 MSc dissertations, and has mentored over 25 master’s and undergraduate students. In addition to his research, he is actively involved in organizing scientific and ocean literacy events and has extensive teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. With significant project leadership experience, he has served as Principal Investigator (3 projects), Co-Principal Investigator (3), Post-doc Fellow (1), and Research Fellow (4), contributing to 12 national and international projects. His research focuses on Marine Ecology, Marine Biology, Biodiversity Conservation, and Fisheries, with an emphasis on rocky shore ecosystems in temperate regions. His expertise includes marine biodiversity, small-scale fisheries (particularly stalked barnacles and sea urchins), experimental aquaculture, environmental monitoring, ocean literacy, and cetacean stranding and ecology.
