Marlene Amorim is an Associate Professor at the Department of Economics, Management, Industrial Engineering and Tourism at the University of Aveiro, Portugal. She is a full member of the Research Unit in Governance Competitiveness and Public Policies (GOVCOPP). Marlene served the University as Pro-rector for Internationalization from 2014 to 2018, and as Director and then Vice-Director for the Master in Industrial Engineering and Management. She also served as Coordinator for the research line in Competitiveness Innovation and Public Policies at GOVCOPP, from 2028 to 2024. Marlene received her PhD in Management from IESE Business School of the University of Navarra in Spain and conducts research in the area of service operations and service quality, notably in topics related to service process design and customer participation in service delivery. Marlene is Principal Investigator and Project Manager of several international projects and presents her work regularly in peer-reviewed journals and academic events. Projects include funding from the national level (FCT) and international level (FP7, ERASMUS+, FEDER). Since November 2018 she has integrated the project AVEIRO STEAM City, an Urban Innovative Action that is led by Aveiro Urban Authority to qualify the territory for digital transformation. In recent years she has also collaborated in several projects and initiatives for the development of new services, and for social impact.
