Ana Cabana Iglesia is a doctor in History at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) with Extraordinary Doctorate Award, and Associate professor at the same University. Member of the Research Group of Excellence (recognized by the Galician regional government since 2006 and renewed periodically) “Histagra” (Agrarian and Political History on the rural World. 19th and 20th centuries). Her research activity has 4 six-year periods granted by the Spanish National Commission for the Evaluation of Investigative Activity (CNEAI), 3 research periods (the last one recognized in 2019) and 1 transfer period. Her main lines of research are social attitudes during Francoism; Agrarian policies and processes of change in contemporary rural Spain; Socio-environmental conflict in the 20th century; Commons and Rural Women's history. The relevance of her contributions in this last topic has make her worthy of the first award in the Premios a la Incorporación de la perspectiva de género (USC and Xunta de Galicia) in 2019. She has been invited in prestigious investigation centers such as London Scholl and Political Science (LSE), Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Universidad Pablo de Olavide and Instituto de História Contemporânea of Universidade de Lisboa. Her research activities have been developed thanks to public funding from over 30 research projects (national and regional). She has been the responsible of one Regional Project (PGIDT-2007, duration: 2008-2011). She is currently researching in two national projects (Plan I+D): “Instituciones de acción colectiva, capital social y manejo de recursos en perspectiva histórica: Europa y América [PID2019-109336GB-I00, duration 2020-2023] at the Universidad Pública de Navarra and “Comunidad, conflicto y revuelta en la Galicia rural del siglo XX”. [PID2020-117858RA-100, duration 2020-2024], at USC. She has been a member of the History and Agroecology Research Network "Revolta" during its entire duration, and part of the team of 2 International Cooperation Projects about gender and development funded by Spanish Agency for International Development (AECI). She has supervised 1 PhD thesis and, nowadays, she has 4 ongoing directions and codirections at three Programs, two at USC -Faculty of Humanities and Department of History- and another at the Universidad de Granada- Area of Contemporary History. She collaborates with the Erasmus+ Project in Wildfire Management “Facing Fire” and she also cooperates in the USC Project “Accións multidisciplinares integradas arredor do rural”, active during the present academic year (2021-2022). She is an external evaluator for prestigious academic national and international journals (Ayer, Historia Social, Historia del Presente, Historia y Política, etc.) and reviewer for academic publishers (Prensas Universitat de Valencia; Prensas de la Universidad de Zaragoza, Editorial de la Universidad de Granada...) and Assesor to the Agència de Gestió d’Ajuts Universitaris i de Recerca (AGAUR). She is leader investigator of the Teaching Innovation Group “Ruralia” at the USC. She is member of the Board of the Society for the Study of Agrarian History (SEHA).
