João Pedro de Sousa Peres Oliveira Ribeiro

João Pedro de Sousa Peres Oliveira Ribeiro holds a PhD in Environmental Sciences and Engineering (2024), as well as MSc (2013) and BSc (2011) degrees in Environmental Engineering from the University of Aveiro. He is currently a Junior Researcher at CESAM – Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies. His research focuses on advanced water and wastewater treatment technologies - particularly advanced oxidation processes, membrane separation, and adsorption - circular economy strategies, and the valorisation of industrial wastes and by-products. He is the author/co-author of 20 peer-reviewed journal articles (h-index 11), 1 book chapter, and 12 conference papers. He delivered 24 oral and poster presentations at international scientific meetings. He has served as a reviewer for more than 60 manuscripts across 21 leading international journals. In addition to his academic work, he actively engages in science communication through national and local outreach events, such as Encontro Ciência, Aveiro Techdays/Techweek, OpenCampus, and other university-led initiatives, showcasing the societal relevance of his work on sustainable environmental technologies.
