Gabriela Torres is a visual artist and has a PhD in the specialty of Drawing at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon (FBAUL), where she is a researcher at the Center for Research and Studies in Fine Arts (CIEBA). She also has a degree in Drawing with a minor in Conservation and Heritage from FBAUL. Her area of specialization is figure drawing from the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries. Her thesis is entitled: "Light and dark in the representation of the body: between the interpretation of drawing and the literalness of photography". She has taken part in various conferences and published articles on this subject. She was part of the organization and executive committee of the event "5 Minutes of Drawing" and the organization of the Colloquium Expressão Múltipla, both organized by CIEBA. Since 2014, she has participated in dozens of collective and solo exhibitions. She was the director of Atelier de Arte Realista do Porto from 2022 to 2024. In 2024 after finishing her PhD, she founded Atelier Artístico Aeminium in Coimbra, where she teaches drawing and painting classes (with a special focus on figure drawing with a model) and organizes artistic residencies and workshops in collaboration with other institutions. She also taught oil lessons at Associação de Solidariedade Social dos Professores.
