Maria da Conceição Monteiro André de Oliveira graduated in chemistry, chemical-physics, in 1984 at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon. She then joined to Centro de Espectrometria de Massa (CEM), as Ph.D. student working in mass spectrometry under supervision of Prof. Maria Alzira Almoster Ferreira. She obtained a Ph.D. degree in chemistry, chemical-physics, from the University of Lisbon with work in dissociation mechanisms of polyatomic ions in the gas phase. She continued her career at CEM as auxiliary researcher of the Technical University of Lisbon. Until the end of 1999 as member of CEM (Line 1), her research was focused on reaccional dynamics of ions in the gas phase: structure, energetic and reactivity, using FT-ICR MS methodologies. Since January 2000, she is member of the Centro de Química Estrutural (CQE), Instituto Superior Técnico. In 2007, she installed the MS facility at CQE, that is part of the Portuguese Mass Spectrometry Network (RNEM). Since then, her research focuses on structural mass spectrometry; MS-based methodologies for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of (bio)molecules in complex matrices (e.g., natural products, drugs and environmental samples); and metabolomics strategies to identify and quantitate metabolites from biological samples. She is the responsible researcher of the MS facility at CQE, and is member of the implementation team of RNEM.
