Teresa Maria Coelho Baptista is an adjunct teacher at Polytechnic Institute (2007- current). She is the Coordinator of the
Aquaculture Master at Polytechnic Institute since 2021. She has a degree in Marine Biology and Fisheries (1990/07/06) from
the University of Algarve - Gambelas Campus, and an MPhil in Marine Environmental Protection (1993) from Bangor University
recognized as Master (1995/03/21) by Algarve University - Gambelas Campus. She has vast experience in the farming industry
because was Hatchery and Quality Manager (1994-2007). She has vast experience in fish pathology, disease diagnosis, immune
parameters, oxidative stress, time course trials to study host/pathogen interactions, also reproductive biology of bivalves.
She has experience as a PI or participant in more than 10 projects both at the national and international levels. Her research
has been published in peer-reviewed journals and scientific congresses. She has also experience in research projects with
the industry such as in vivo testing of vaccines and feed additives for fish, to promote health and welfare. She supervised
more than 30 MSc students and undergraduates (20). She has the Research-Coordination Certification for animal experimentation
according to Portuguese law on Animal Welfare, equivalent to the C category of FELASA. She is the director of fish facilities
in Cetemares and a member of ORBEA.
