Adriana Sofia da Silva Barroso completed her degree in Biomedical Sciences in 2020 at the University of Beira Interior (UBI), followed by a Master’s degree in Biochemistry in 2022 at the same institution. Her master’s thesis focused on biomaterials and was entitled “3D scaffolds of tricalcium phosphate/sodium alginate enriched with lignin for application in bone tissue regeneration.” She is currently a research fellow at the Centre for Rapid and Sustainable Product Development (CDRSP) – Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, where she began her scientific career on the OP-SMARTherapy FCT project focuses on developing an economical solution to prevent fractures related to osteoporosis, using magnetic activation and low concentrations of therapeutic agents, and is now contributing to the PREDICTOS EU project in the development of an in vitro and in silico 3D model for mimicking Osteosarcoma, as well as to design an innovative platform for the treatment of Osteosarcoma. SCIENTIFIC SKILLS: Synthesis of biomaterials. Characterizations: Chemical (FT-IR, UV-vis); Thermal (DSC-TGA); Physical (DLS, zeta-potential, contact angle); Morphological (SEM, Optical and fluorescence microscopy); Biological studies ((MC3T3-Subclone 4 and MG63 cell lines); XTT, Resazurin, PrestoBlue, Live&Dead; alkaline phosphatase activity, Alizarin Red S). Scaffolds and Hydrogels fabrication. Software: GraphPad; Image J; Photoshop. MAIN INTEREST AREAS: Biomimicry, synthesis and characterization of biomaterials, stimuli-responsive biomaterials, in vitro studies, bone tissue engineering, additive biomanufacturing.
