Jérôme Mendes received his Ph.D. degree, approved unanimously with distinction and honors, in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Coimbra (UC) in October 2014, with the subject ¿Computational Intelligence Methodologies for Control of Industrial Processes¿. In 2015, Jérôme got funds for his Postdoc, a Postdoctoral FCT grant ¿Self-Learning Fuzzy Logic Control for Industrial Processes¿ at the Institute of Systems and Robotics - University of Coimbra (ISR-UC), between May/2015 to Feb/2019. Since March 2019, Jérôme has been a researcher under a ``Junior Researcher'' contract at ISR-UC. And, since September 2021, Jérôme has been Invited Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Coimbra. Jérôme has been involved as a team member with enterprise partners in several R&D projects, focusing his research on developing computational intelligence-based solutions, mainly for smart industry, with an emphasis on, intelligent control (adaptive, auto-tuning, predictive; data-driven; evolving, and interpretable); intelligent identification (prediction of unknown and time-varying systems, automatic identification design with evolving and interpretable capability), and intelligent failure detection. As a result, he has published more than 50 papers and been involved in 16 R&D projects as team member, 4 as Principal Investigator (PI), and 2 as co-PI. This experience allowed Jérôme to independently coordinate 4 projects as Principal Investigator (PI) coordinating a total of 577k EUR, and 2 as co-PI with a budget of 74k EUR. These projects enhance Jérôme¿s scientific independence and leadership in the pursuit of innovative research and technology in intelligent methodologies for industry (smart industry). Moreover, Jérôme has been the (co)-supervisor of 5 (ongoing) Ph.D. students, 20 Master students (8 of them are ongoing), and 26 research fellows (13 of them are ongoing). Jérôme has been Associated Editor, organizer of Special Issues and Special Sessions, Program Committee member at international conferences, and a periodical reviewer of several international journals and conferences (more than 110 reviews).
