Dr. Tatiana Dekola obtained her Ph.D. in physics in 2002 from Scientific-Practical Materials Research Center for Materials Science of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Currently, she is a Researcher at CICECO-Aveiro Institute of Materials. Previously, she held postdoctoral researcher positions at Hokkaido University (Japan) and University of Minho (Portugal). The area of research interests of Dr. Dekola covered ferroelectrics and related materials, hybrid organic-inorganic materials, and semi-organic nanofibers. In particular, she explored mechanisms of ferroelectric-paraelectric and order-disorder phase transitions in molecular-ionic ferroelectrics, A2BX4 ferroelectric crystals ((A=(CH3)2NH2, N(C2H5)4, C2H5NO2; BX4 = CuCl4, ZnCl4, ZnBr4, CdBr4, ReO4), and several organic-inorganic ferroelectric compounds. The studies were performed with a broad spectrum of experimental methods, including synthesis, diffractometric and spectroscopic analysis as well as scanning probe techniques and allowed elucidating interplay of structure and chemical composition on the nature and features of the phase transition in these materials. Most recently, she has been involved in research on applications of near-field scanning microwave microscopy to study the local high-frequency electrical properties of materials at the nanoscale. In addition, Dr. Dekola has a significant (8 years) industrial experience acquired at a top-notch analytical instrumentation company—Bruker AXS GmbH (Germany)—that includes application of optical emission spectroscopy tools for elemental analysis. She has co-authored 28 papers and 19 conference presentations. During 2004-2006, she was a PI of a project funded by a Belarus Foundation for Fundamental Research grant (Effect of gamma and electron irradiation on the phase transitions characteristics in hydrogen-bonded and A2BX4 crystals). In 2007, she received an Individual grant financed by the FCT (Lattice dynamics investigation of H-bonded compounds with competing ferro- and antiferro-interactions, SFRH/BPD/26931/2006). She has supervised and trained 1 Ph.D. student, 2 M.Sc. students, and 1 undergraduate student.
