Nuno Mendes, graduated in Civil Engineering at University of Minho (Portugal) in 2006, obtained his PhD degree in Civil Engineering in 2012, also at University of Minho, on the seismic behaviour of existing masonry buildings. Currently, he is Auxiliar Researcher at the University of Minho. His research interests and activity are mainly related to seismic behaviour, inspection, diagnosis, non-destructive testing, advanced numerical modelling, dynamic tests, innovative strengthening techniques and monitoring of masonry buildings. He participated in14 research projects, including 1 research project as Principal Investigator and 1 research project as Responsible Researcher of the University of Minho. He is supervisor of PhD and Master's Theses, including 4 concluded PhD Thesis, 6 ongoing PhD Theses, 21 concluded Master's Theses. He is author and co-author of more than 165 scientific publications: 1 edited book; 15 chapters of books; 54 Scopus-indexed journal papers); 7 papers in national journals; 15 papers in magazines; 42 papers in international conferences; 3 abstracts in international conferences; 29 papers in national conferences. He holds a Scopus h-index of 21 (excluding self-citations and citations from books). He is also reviewer of papers in 20 journals and conferences, book proposals, and research projects applications of the Portuguese National Innovation Agency and National Research, Development and Innovation Office of Hungary. He is lecturer in several units of the Advanced Masters in Structural Analysis of Monuments and Historical Constructions (SAHC, UMinho), in which he is coordinator of the SA4 unit (Inspection and Diagnosis). He was also lecturer in ELARCH Masters Euro-Latin America partnership in natural Risk mitigation and protection of the Cultural Heritage and the University of Minho Structural Engineering Masters (STREMUM). He has been distinguished with several awards, such as the scientific publishing merit diploma, attributed by the Engineering School of the University of Minho in 2021 and he is member of the Portuguese Society of Seismic Engineering (SPES). Finally, he participated in more than 40 consultancy projects, and he is author and co-author of 49 technical reports, corresponding to about 0.5M € of funding. He also participated in several research works on historical buildings, such as Qutb Minar (India), Canterbury Cathedral (United Kingdom), San Sebastian Church (Philippines), Municipal Theatre of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Loka-Hteik-Pan Temple (Myanmar), Kuño Tambo Church (Peru), Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Church of San Diego (USA), Presidential Palace (Portugal), Carmo Convent (Portugal) and Porto Cathedral (Portugal).
