I am a Biological Anthropologist and European Research Area fellow at the University of Coimbra, currently studying human remains from the Mesolithic Muge sites. I hold a Ph.D. from the École Pratique des Hautes Études, PSL Research University Paris. My research focuses on biocultural transitions and interactions in prehistory. To date, I have concentrated on two chronological and geographical contexts: 1) Southwestern Asia, a region of human population confluences during the Late Pleistocene, and 2) the Iberian Peninsula, the last point of contact in Europe between nomadic hunter-gatherers and more settled food-producing populations during the Holocene. Coincidentally, human skeletal remains from both contexts underwent severe post-mortem alterations (e.g., crushing, compaction, calcareous encrustation), limiting prior studies and their conclusions. I have analyzed several fossils and individuals, including Late Pleistocene remains from Qafzeh, Tabun, and Kebara (Southwestern Asia), Dar-es-Soltane II (Northern Africa), the Neanderthal remains from Le Regourdou and Coupe-Gorge (Western Europe), the Gravettian fossil from Lagar Velho (Western Europe), the last hunter-gatherers of Western Europe from Muge (Holocene), Toca do Enoque (Holocene, South America), and soldiers from the Napoleonic Grande Armée (Holocene, Eastern Europe). I have successfully secured funding through highly competitive calls : PI of 4 research projects (Highly competitive funding, British and French foundations and European Commission, ˜ € 222,000), member of 2 projects (Synchrotron Soleil and French National Agency, ˜ € 95,000), I received 3 prizes (from US, French and Portuguese scientific associations). My academic contributions include 10 peer-reviewed articles (7 as first author, 1 as senior author), 1 book chapter, 2 keynote lectures, 2 invited online lectures, 2 invited workshops, and 28 oral communications and posters at scientific meetings. Disseminating my research to the general public is also a priority. I have participated in several outreach events, including radio and television programs, and numerous activities for the general public and schools. My research has achieved significant peer recognition, evidenced by publications in leading osteoarchaeology and paleopathology journals. I have developed collaborations with national centers such as ICArEHB and Uniarq and international partners across France, Israel, Brazil, Italy, Germany, Russia and Morocco, highlighting the global impact of my work. My expertise has earned me authorization to analyze fossils from prestigious institutions like the British Museum, Institut de Paléontologie Humaine, Tel Aviv University, Museu Nacional de Arqueologia, and Museu Geológico in Portugal. I also contribute as a reviewer for prominent journals such as Science Advances and as a member of the international editorial committee of the Egyptian Journal of Forensic Science. Furthermore, my peers recognized my contributions by electing me Vice President of the Groupe des Paléopathologistes de Langue Française, underscoring my leadership and influence in the field. I have actively engaged in international public outreach and knowledge transfer, teaching at universities in the US, France, and Portugal, and creating four exhibits in France and Portugal. My work includes writing scientific blog articles (Spain and France), participating in a TV interview in Russia, three radio interviews in France and Portugal, and numerous interviews with prestigious outlets such as Forbes (USA), Le Monde (France), Público and Contacto (Portugal), and YLE (Finland). I have also organized or contributed to four educational workshops in France and Portugal. These initiatives highlight my commitment to making science accessible globally, bridging cultural divides, increasing scientific literacy and inspiring both students and the general public
