Ricardo Martins is a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering (2017), specialized in automation and robotics, with a background in Biomedical Engineering (MSc, 2008). He has complemented his education by attending several international advanced training courses in robotics, biostatistics and experimental design in cognitive neuroscience research, kinetic modelling and quantification of dynamic PET data, fMRI and EEG data analysis, machine learning, and computational psychiatry. Ricardo Martins is a contracted researcher and integrated member of CIBIT-UC (Coimbra Institute for Biomedical Imaging and Translational Research, University of Coimbra). Over the past years, his research activities have been focused on two distinct lines of research and innovation - machine perception in robotics and neuroimaging in cognitive neuroscience - with a common intersection: multivariate signal processing, pattern analysis, statistics and probability, computational modelling, and machine intelligence. These competencies have been developed and applied as a research team member of national and EU funded projects in the field of patterns recognition, artificial cognitive systems and robotics (FP7-HANDLE, FP7-PROMETHEUS), computer-aided diagnosis (FP7-EPILEPSIAE), neuroscience of visual perception (FCT- NeuroHyst, Bial Foundation), and multimodal biomarkers research and validation of new therapies in neurological and psychiatric disorders (H2020- AIMS-2-TRIALS, H2020-STIPED, FCT- BioMuScle, FCT- AFFECTIVE, FCT- MEDPERSYST). The outcomes of Ricardo Martins' research activities have been published in top international journals and conferences on cognitive neuroscience, neuroimaging, biomarkers research, robotics, automation, and machine intelligence. He has served as an invited reviewer for several international journals and IEEE conferences (list of verified reviews: https://publons.com/researcher/1701872/ricardo-martins/peer-review/ ). Ricardo Martins follows and adopts open science and open research practices. Most of his research outcomes are open-access and indexed in national and international open-access repositories (RCAAP, OpenAIRE, Zenodo).
