Malihe Gorgich is an environmental engineering interested in studying microalgae and cyanobacteria. Her major field of study is to detect, measure and extract high value bio-products from microalgal strains. Focusing on carotenoids and phycobiliproteins, she has carried out lab experiments in both faculty of pharmacy, and faculty of engineering. In 2016, she graduated from faculty of Science at University of Porto in MSc of environmental science and technology with 2 journal articles (one as first author) (Q1 journals, IF 5.25, and IF 4.36), investigating on application of graywater in irrigating agricultural products. She has published 8 articles in journals (3 as first author (Q1 journal, IF 4.36), and the rest as co-author (Q1 Journals, IF 4.36 and IF3.23)). She participates as a research fellow in the project "Extraction and purification processes of phycocyanin" from "National Funds through FCT / MCTES and considering the UID's Pluriannual funding UID/QUI/50006/2019" in the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Porto. Results from this project were published in a journal article as the first author titled "Enhancing extraction and purification of phycocyanin from Arthrospira sp. with lower energy consumption". Besides, she has lab experience in both cultivation and extraction of bio-product from microalgal sources for 3 years at LEPABE, faculty of engineering, university of Porto. Concerning profession career, she has five years of experience working as environmental research analyst for EIA projects.
