Zabya Abo Aljadayel is a dedicated researcher working at the intersection of climate change, cultural heritage, and community engagement. Her research focuses on reconstructing past environmental conditions and human adaptation strategies through geoarchaeological methods. By integrating geological and archaeological proxies, she explores how historical climate dynamics influenced past societies. Holding an MA in Archaeology and dual BA degrees in Archaeology and Economics, Zabya combines expertise in both the humanities and socio-environmental systems to offer a comprehensive understanding of human-environment interactions. She is affiliated with CHAM – the Research Centre for the Humanities, particularly within the RDMUP Research Group on Representations, Discourses, Materialities, and Uses of the Past (formerly RG on Antiquity). Her research uses sedimentological, geochemical, and paleoenvironmental data to examine how climatic shifts affected human settlement patterns, resource management, and social organization. In addition to her academic qualifications, Zabya has specialized training in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, which she applies to GIS, data analysis, and machine learning. These tools help her analyze large datasets and reveal trends in past landscapes, improving her ability to study climate patterns and material culture. Zabya is deeply involved in voluntary initiatives that promote climate action and cultural heritage preservation. She serves as an unpaid Consultancy Board Member for Our Syrian Culture is Our Identity – Salamieh Initiative, a grassroots effort dedicated to protecting Syrian heritage in conflict zones. She also works with the Arab Youth Climate Movement Qatar (AYCM Qatar), focusing on climate research, policy advocacy, and educational outreach. Furthermore, her memberships in the Community Arts Network (CAN) and Migration Impact Network @ Place Network allow her to collaborate on policies related to cultural preservation, migration, and social inclusion. As an Emerging Leader Artivist, Zabya merges art and activism through the use of traditional music to raise awareness on climate change, cultural diversity, gender equality, and social coexistence. This work highlights her commitment to integrating cultural expression with environmental advocacy and social justice. Zabya has received specialized technical training in GIS, data visualization (e.g., Power BI, Excel), Python programming, and blockchain technologies. These skills support her research on historical climate change and human-environment interactions. Her academic contributions include studies on climate variability and numismatic research on Fatimid coinage in Al-Andalus. She has presented her work at significant academic conferences, including the Annual Meeting of the European Coin Find Network and the Ismaili Studies Conference at Leiden University. Her research has been largely self-funded or supported by institutional collaborations, and she has published her findings in peer-reviewed journals. Fluent in Arabic and English, and proficient in Portuguese, French, and Spanish, Zabya brings a multilingual and multicultural perspective to her work. Outside of research, she is committed to community outreach, environmental education, and heritage protection, demonstrating her strong sense of civic responsibility. Through her interdisciplinary expertise and voluntary leadership, Zabya seeks to bridge scientific research, policy, and community empowerment.
