Mahesh Chandra received his Ph.D. in Microbiology from Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CIMAP-CSIR) and Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut, India, in 2009. He got her Master´s degree in Applied Microbiology (2002) and a Bachelor´s degree in Biological Sciences (2000) by M.J.P. Rohilkhand University. He has been an integral part of the Science and Technology team at Scientific and Applied Research Center, Meerut, India, from late 2008 to 2009. Since 2010, he has become the part of the research group “Microbiology and Wine Science” with the platform “Vineyard and Wine Platform” as a Post-doctoral researcher, and a member of the Research Centre Centro de Botânica Aplicada à Agricultura (CBAA). Currently, he associated as a Postdoc Researcher with Linking Landscape, Environment, Agriculture, and Food (LEAF), a member of Group III- “Eco-novel Food and Feed” and to “Grapevine and Wine” platform. He has been developing the research work in the area of wine microbiology and sensory analysis. Her scientific interests are focused on understanding the growth behavior and tolerance ability of wine spoilage yeast species (e.g., Brettanomyces bruxellensis, Zygosaccharomyces bailii, Saccharomycodes ludwigii and Schizosaccharomyces pombe during the different stages of wine production. Another area of research interest is to study the microbial ecology of vineyards from different wine growing regions, aiming to find the origin of oenologically important microorganisms and their importance in winemaking. Wine is one of the high economically important products from Portugal. With the background of Microbiology and the acquired knowledge in the area of wine spoilage, wine fermentation, yeast ecology, he has developed his scientific topics with an integrated approach, together with other members of the research group. He has been involved in four funded projects, in which she bagged three individual grants. Works accomplished in these themes were published as 15 indexed peer-reviewed articles in international scientific journals, 15 communications in international journals. She has an h-index of 11, with 269 citations (google-scholar).
