Rosa Maria Ferreira Batista completed her degree in Chemistry, in July 2003. This was followed by a Master's degree in Chemistry, specialising in teaching, at the University of Minho, from October 2003 to October 2005. During this period, she was also a Research Fellow in several FCT projects. She completed her PhD in Science, specialising in Chemistry, at the University of Minho on 21 December 2011. After her doctorate, she did a post-doctorate, also at the University of Minho, from January 2012 to January 2019. During her post-doctoral period, she was also an Invited Assistant Professor at the University of Minho. She has currently been a Junior Researcher on contract at the University of Minho, at Physics Centre, since 1 February 2019. Throughout her academic and research career, she has made significant contributions to the field of Chemistry, Nanotechnology and Materials Science. She has published 52 articles in specialized journals, 14 conference proceeding papers, and her work has been presented in 55 posters at national and international conferences. Additionally, she has delivered 22 oral presentations at national and international conferences and has co-authored 2 book chapters. She has served as a guest editor for 2 special issues and has been invited by 9 journals to peer review. She is part of the organising committee for the International Conference, CMD31, which will take place in September 2004, in Braga. She has been a jury member of academic degree, including the main jury for 6 master's degree exams. Her research interests cover a wide range of topics, including Pi conjugated donor-acceptor systems, two-photon absorption (TPA) chromophores, fluorescence, heterocycles, second harmonic generators, metal ion detection, optical chemosensors, colourimetric sensors, fluorimetric sensors, anion sensors, cation sensors, non-linear optical (NLO) materials, piezoelectric materials, electrospinning, nanocrystals, non-linear optics (NLO), optical susceptibility, hyperpolarisability, dipeptides, amino acids, self-assembly, biopolymers, piezoelectric and ferroelectric materials, electrospun nanofibres and biomaterials. In addition, Rosa Maria Ferreira Batista has demonstrated her leadership and guidance skills by supervising a PhD student, 4 Masters students and 14 other students involved in several research projects.
