I've completed my PhD (2011) in Technological Physics, specializing in radiation detection. Since then I've pursued a multidisciplinary research career, working along in several networks of international researchers, addressing some of the most challenging physics topics such as Dark Matter searches (XENON collaboration, 2014-1019; CYGNO collaboration) or high precision spectroscopy of exotic atoms (CREMA collaboration). I've acumulated over 30 periods as visitin scientist at prestigious International Research Institutions, such as the Paul Scherrer Institute (Switzerland), Gran Sasso National Laboratory (Italy) or the Weizmann Institute (Israel). My research path resulted so far in 111 publications in scientific journals, 95 of them with peer review (16 as either first or corresponding author) having accumulated over 6500 citations (WoS; h index 31), sharing co-authorship with a total of 830 researchers. I'm main author of an Intellectual Property Protection Request (Patent Pending), on the topic of a novel methodology for neutron imaging instruments. Other original contributions I've made to detector science include the Photon Assisted Cascaded Electron Multiplier, the Thick-COBRA, the first ever operation of a proportional counter filed with an aerosol. I've reviewed 23 submissions to international journals with peer-review. I've been member of the local organizing committee of four international conferences, with over 700 participants. I've presented my work 20 times at international conferences and workshops, nine as oral contributions, three invited. I've completed the supervision of five MSc, two PhD students and of two Postdocs researchers and I'm currently supervising three PhD students. I've been invited as jury member of nine MsC and three PhD theses, serving as main evaluator in most of them. I've participated in 19 funded research projects, being PI in three of them, all achieved in highly competitive calls for funding. I coordinate my home institution (LIBPhys-UC) in a joint research project with two other Portuguese institutions (I3N-Aveiro and LIP-Coimbra). I'm PI of the LIBPhys-UC group in the CYGNO collaboration, supervising the activities of two PhD students and two senior researchers in this collaboration. I'm member of the CYGNO PubCom committee, which oversees the CYGNO members dissemination activities. Since 2016, I lecture classes at the Physics Department of the Coimbra University, with Professor Duties, in the courses of Electronics (2016-ongoing), General Physics (2016), and Radiation for Biomedicine (2017). I'n 2019 I was elected by the members of the Portuguese Physics Society (SPF) as President of the Central Region delegation, being responsible for the activities of this society in the Central Portuguese Region. in 2022 I was re-elected, for another three years mandate. I'm also member of the SPF Directive Council and of the National Physics Olympics Committee.
