My academic background and research interests lie in experimental and cognitive psychology, with a particular focus on working memory. I am currently pursuing a PhD in Psychology (are of expertise Neuropsychology) at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Coimbra (Portugal). I am the recipient of a doctoral scholarship funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (2021.04646.BD). My doctoral project will examine the role of task selection in working memory assessment. To address this, I will investigate whether task combinations drawn from different paradigms that engage distinct working memory components provide more accurate and comprehensive estimates of working memory capacity than task sets solely comprising measures from a single paradigm or single-task measurements. Besides evaluating the benefits of multi-paradigm approaches over single-task and single-paradigm strategies for assessing working memory, this project will also aim to facilitate their broader adoption by providing free, comprehensive, and efficient solutions. To this end, I will develop and publicly release a battery of working memory tasks spanning multiple paradigms (complex span, updating, and binding), implemented using open-source software and made available in multiple languages (Portuguese and English) as a ready-to-download tool. I will also examine whether working memory components exhibit dissociable patterns of diurnal fluctuations. Additionally, I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical and Health Psychology and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Beira Interior (Portugal). My research experience includes work as a research assistant on the project “Do you recognize me? The impact of chronotype and time-of-day on face recognition” (PTDC/PSI-GER/31082/2017), which examined circadian influences on face recognition using behavioral and psychophysiological measures. From December 2019 to June 2020, I also provided research support services at the Department of Psychology and Education, University of Beira Interior.
