Andreia F. M. Santos is a Junior Researcher with a PhD in Sustainable Chemistry (December 2023), a joint programme between NOVA School of Science and Technology (NOVA FCT), University of Aveiro and University of Porto, Portugal, where her research was focused on materials science, particularly ionic liquid crystals. The investigation carried out within the scope of the dissertation led to the publication of 6 papers (all as first author, including one review, one as single author and two selected as front cover issue) in specialised peer-review journals, being the general work awarded 4 times by national and international organisations. Moreover, anticipating potential interest from industry, part of her work is currently patent pending. Prior to her PhD, she completed a BSc in Biochemistry (2013) and a MSc in Biotechnology (2015) at NOVA FCT, whose master thesis contributed to 2 research papers where she was listed as co-author. Her current research interests include: (i) synthesis and characterisation of innovative functional materials based on ionic liquids and/or liquid crystals; (ii) thermal analysis using Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) for applications across the electronic, pharmaceutical and food industries; (iii) study of the conductivity behaviour via Dielectric Relaxation Spectroscopy (DRS). To date, she is (co-)author of 14 original research papers (6 as first author, 1 as corresponding author) published in indexed journals, with more than 68 citations* and an h-index of 4, 1 patent, 12 oral presentations (6 as speaker) and 18 posters (9 as presenting author). AFM Santos has also been involved in 2 collaborative international research projects, forming valuable partnerships with Université de Lille (France) and Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). In fact, during her academic career, she had the opportunity to work at four universities: NOVA FCT (Portugal), Université de Lille (France), King's College London (United Kingdom) and Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), which allowed her to interact with different research realities, strengthening her desire to pursue a research career and innovate in that environment. Since 2021, she is responsible for managing the NOVA FCT's calorimetric lab and providing advanced training in DSC. In terms of other pedagogical activities, she is currently co-supervising an Erasmus master student. Furthermore, her dedication to the dissemination of science led her not only to participate in more than 10 congresses, but also to organise 2 renowned international conferences that took place in Lisbon, Portugal – ILCC2022 (24-29/Jul/2022) and BDS2024 (1-6/Sep/2024) – being now part of the organisation of 11th IUPAC International Conference on Green Chemistry that is set to take place in Lisbon, 2026. *According to Scopus - 05/Mar/2025
