Paulo Flores is Professor (full) at the Mechanical Engineering Department of the University of Minho, since 2013. His education includes: Bachelor (1997), Master (2000), PhD (2005) and Habilitation (2011), all in Mechanical Engineering. Paulo Flores also concluded postdoctoral studies at the ETH- Zurich (2009) and The University of Tucson (2012). In 2024, he received a Doctor Honoris Causa from the Technical University of Iasi, Romania. Paulo Flores has published over 268 publications Scopus indexed, which results in a total of 10329 citations (h index 51). He has received more the 20 national and international scientific awards. He has published 14 pedagogical books. Paulo Flores has coordinated and realized 12 research projects with competitive financing, both at national and European levels. He has supervised with success more than 12 PhD´s students and dozens of Masters’ students. He has granted several national and international patents. Paulo Flores’ interests include Multibody Dynamics, Biomechanics, Medical Devices, Contact-Impact Mechanics, Tribology, Mechanical Systems Analysis and Design, Computer-Aided Design, Mobility Systems and Higher Education. Paulo Flores was the President of Portuguese Society of Biomechanics (2017-2019). He was the EDAM - Engineering Design and Advanced Manufacturing - area within the MIT-Portugal (2014-2018). Paulo Flores chaired the Technical Committee for Multibody Dynamics of IFToMM - International Federation for the Promotion of Mechanism and Machine Science (2014-2019). Paulo Flores is the editor-in-chief of the journal Mechanism and Machine Theory (since 2016).
