João Pedro Tomaz Simões

João Tomaz Simões is a Full Researcher at Techn&Art (Center for Technology, Restoration, and Enhancement of Arts) and at ISLA UI&D in Tourism, Management, and Marketing. His academic background includes a Bachelor's degree in Tourism from ISLA - Santarém (2008), a Master's degree from the School of Management at the Polytechnic Univerisity of Tomar (2012), and the Specialist title in the field of Tourism and Leisure (2020). He completed the coursework of his doctoral program at IGOT (Lisbon University), in partnership with ESTHE (Estoril Faculty), and conclued his doctoral thesis at the University of Santiago de Compostela. Since 2011, he has been working as a teatcher (History, Geography, Tourism) and as a specialized consultant in Management, Training and Planning of Tourism. Since 2018, serves as a Professor at the Polytechnic University of Tomar were he coordinates the Tourism and Digital Marketing course. His research interests, reflected in his various publications, focus on the sustainable development of tourism, management of cultural heritage, branding, and marketing strategies for destinations. His research and professional activities are aligned with the study of new tourism trends, including 'sustainable degrowth', the Total Tourism Experience (TTE), and the impact of sociocultural changes and technological advancements on the industry.
