Mr. Travieso's field of expertise is expanding adaptive control theories and applications, including nonlinear dynamical systems like Electrical Machines Drives. With over 27 years of industry experience and 24 years of academic experience, he holds the degrees of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) with honors, Master of Science (MSc), and Electrical Engineer (EE). In addition, he received a Project Manager Professional (PMP No 1303126) credential from the Project Management Institute in 2009. Throughout his professional career, Mr. Travieso has held various positions, including Deputy Project Engineering Manager in a Mega Project in Bechtel (with 6 billion USD CAPEX); Site Manager and Engineering Manager at BHP Billiton (with 300 million USD CAPEX); as Tie-in, Commissioning, and Field Engineering Manager at SNC-Lavalin; as Global Subject Matter Expert at Fluor in the areas of DCS / PLC, control strategies, and variable speed drives; as Engineering Functional Manager and Project Manager at BRASS Chile S.A. Furthermore, Mr. Travieso has been a full professor (tenure track) at the Universidad de Santiago de Chile since 2019. He has been Director of the Laboratory for Automation and Energies since 2018 and Faculty Research Vice-dean since 2021. He directed the research projects FONDED ID17I10338 (with a 0.4 million USD Budget) and FONDED ID17I20338 (with a 0.5 million USD Budget), among other research projects. He is the author or co-author of over thirty scientific publications, including two book chapters.
