Luís Pedro Rato (LPR) holds a Ph.D. in Biomedicine from the University of Beira Interior, Portugal. LPR currently serves as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Health and Medical Sciences, School of Health and Human Development, University of Évora. Previously, LPR collaborated as an Invited Professor for the Nursing and Medicinal Biotechnology Bachelor’s programs at the Polytechnic Institute of Guarda, Portugal, as well as the Master’s programs in Biomedical Sciences and Biochemistry at the University of Beira Interior. LPR is a integrated member of the Comprehensive Health Research Centre (CHRC) and his primary expertise is in male (in)fertility and metabolic disorders, including prediabetes and diabetes mellitus. His research has also expanded to the study of environmental contaminants, particularly obesogens, and their impact on male fertility. He has authored 46 peer-reviewed publications, 12 section(s) of books, primarily focusing on the interplay between metabolism, metabolic modulation, and male fertility, with special emphasis on metabolic diseases and environmental factors. LPR serves as an Academic Editor for Medicine® and an Associate Editor for Frontiers in Endocrinology. Additionally, is a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Molecular Sciences and a regular reviewer for several leading scientific journals. LPR has supervised several MSc students and has been collaborating with several Ph.D. students from the University of Beira Interior, University of Coimbra, University of Porto, and University of Évora, Portugal. LPR has participated as jury in 4 MSc and 8 BSc thesis. LPR has co-organized 6 scientific events; received 8 awards and/or honors and has an h-index of 28, with a total of 2,553 citations to date.
