Marta Gabriel, PhD (Female) in Biochemistry, has been a researcher at INEGI since September 2016, where she coordinates activities related to the characterization of indoor air quality (IAQ) in households and public settings under the scope of national and international projects. Her research has made significant contributions to identifying opportunities for improving indoor environmental conditions and mitigating IAQ-related health risks. As part of this work, she served as a Temporary Advisor to the World Health Organization (WHO) from 2018 to 2022, participating in expert consultations to develop tools for assessing cumulative risks from indoor air pollutants in public settings for children. She leads INEGI’s participation in international projects. This includes the EC projects NUDGE – as WP leader and leader of the Portuguese Pilot “Healthy homes for long-lasting energy efficiency behaviour in Portugal” and INQUIRE focused on the identification of chemical and biological determinants, their sources, and strategies to promote healthier homes in Europe. She has authored numerous scientific publications in international peer-reviewed journals, contributed to indexed books, and presented findings at national and international conferences. Her expertise is recognized through invitations to review for leading Q1 journals in the field of environmental sciences and to serve on the scientific committees of international conferences.
