My name is Ângela Ribau. I graduated in Mathematics from the University of Aveiro in 2006. Subsequently, I pursued a Master’s degree in Mathematics and Applications with specialization in Computer Science from the University of Aveiro, which I completed in 2009. In 2024, I obtained a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto, with a thesis titled “Theoretical and numerical studies of viscoelastic fluid flows”. The thesis deals with the study of new analytical, semi-analytical and numerical solutions of flows of viscoelastic fluids governed by the generalised Phan-Thien–Tanner viscoelastic model and also with the numerically study of Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluid flows and the application of model order reduction (MOR) methods to reduce the huge amount of data that comes out of a numerical simulation, by performing a decomposition of the entire data set into smaller sets and then identify important structures that are present in the main flow. From May 2010 to August 2012, I was affiliated with the Institute of Polymers and Composites at the University of Minho, where I acquired experience in research, namely in computational fluid mechanics, transport phenomena and numerical methods applied to fluid dynamics and heat transfer, for the extrusion process of thermoplastic profiles through non-Newtonian fluid models. I was a researcher at project “OPTIMCOOL - Optimization of the cooling/calibration stage of thermoplastic profiles during extrusion” where I developed a finite volume code to model the calibration/cooling stage of thermoplastic profiles in the extrusion process. From September 2012 to April 2016, I collaborated with Grupo LeYa, as a freelancer writing multimedia content for teaching Mathematics, for ongoing projects in Portugal, Brazil and Angola. From May 2014 to July 2015, I had the opportunity to work at Grupo LeYa as Multimedia Editorial Coordinator, where I coordinated projects in the area of Descriptive Geometry and Mathematics, validated and prepared multimedia teaching material, introduced multimedia content and educational content on the digital platform Aula Digital and also carried out tests on projects in web (online), offline and mobile (apps) versions. Between September 2005 and April 2010, September 2012 and April 2014 and September 2015 and July 2018, I worked as a Mathematics Teacher in several public and private schools, and also as a Mathematics Tutor giving private lessons at my home and in several Study Centers. From September 2018 to August 2019, I was affiliated with the Transport Phenomena Research Center (CEFT) at the Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto. During this period, I began to develop analytical solutions for viscoelastic fluids defined by the generalised Phan-Thien–Tanner rheological model. In September 2019 I enrolled in the Doctoral Program in Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, coinciding with the time when I obtained the Scholarship to do my Ph.D., and I defended my Ph.D. Thesis in May 2024. During my Ph.D. I had the chance to be an Invited Assistant Lecturer at the Mechanical Department of the Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto in the Mathematics Section, teaching Mathematical Analysis I, II and III, Linear Algebra and Analytical Geometry and Numerical Analysis. Since June 2024, I started a new position has a Researcher at CEFT in the Mechanical Department of Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto to develop rheological models for human blood under the influence of the application of magnetic fields. During my scientific journey, I presented 5 conference posters, made 8 oral presentations at international conferences and 7 at national conferences, 9 papers at peer-reviewed scientific journals were published (1 is in preparation) and 1 patent. I also participated in 3 workshops and seminars, and in 3 financed projects.
