I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Health Research Institute of Santiago de Compostela (Spain) thanks to a Junior Leader Fellowship from Fundación La Caixa. My investigation focuses on the development of biology-based mathematical models and computational methods to predict cancer growth and treatment response on a personalized basis. My work primarily focuses on the patient-specific computational forecasting of prostate cancer growth based on currently available clinical and imaging data. I use isogeometric analysis to accurately and efficiently handle the challenges arising in mathematical modelling of cancer growth and the complex anatomic and morphologic features involved in this problem. Additionally, I am contributing to the development of these technologies for the neoadjuvant therapy of breast cancer and the chemoradiation of brain cancer. Furthermore, I am interested in the application of mathematical models the methods of computational mechanics to contribute to the understanding and clinical management of other diseases, as well as in the development of novel isogeometric methods. Previously, I was a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellow at the Oden Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin (US) and the University of Pavia (Italy) from 2020 to 2023, a Peter O'Donnell Jr. postdoctoral researcher at the Oden Institute from 2019 to 2020, and a postdoctoral researcher at the Computational Mechanics and Advanced Materials Group at the University of Pavia (Italy) from 2017 t0 2019. I obtained my PhD with summa cum laude mention at the University of A Coruña (UDC, Spain) in 2018, where I started my research on computational modelling and simulation of prostate cancer growth within the ERC Starting Grant project MuSIC under the supervision of Prof. Hector Gomez. Previously, I graduated in MSc Introduction to Research in Civil Engineering from UDC in 2014, and graduated with honors in MSc Civil Engineering from UDC in 2013. I have received multiple awards for my academic record during my doctoral and engineering studies, including extraordinary awards from UDC, the Galician Regional Government, and the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture, and Sport.
