Tiago Silva completed the MSc in Physics Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico at the University of Lisbon, Portugal in 2011 and received his PhD degree (Plasma Physics domain) from the University of Mons, Belgium in 2015. Currently, he is an Invited Assistant Professor at the Physics Department of Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisbon, Portugal, in the Scientific Area of Plasma Physics, Lasers and Nuclear Fusion. He is also a Junior Researcher (contracted via individual scientific employment of FCT) at the Institute of Plasmas and Nuclear Fusion (IPFN), in the N - Plasmas Reactive: Modelling and Engineering (N-PRiME) group. He was recently awarded a Fulbright Grant to conduct a research project at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) targeted at exploring the potential of plasma technology to convert CO2 into oxygen in the Martian environment. He has co-authored more than 30 papers in international journals and about 40 communications at international conferences (10 invited talks). He supervises(d) 1 PhD student and 7 MSc/Bachelor students in Instituto Superior Técnico. According to Google Scholar (November 2023), his research was cited 1460 times with a corresponding h-index of 21.
