Sofián El-Astal was born in Gaza - Palestine). Received his Ph.D. in Psychology (1998) from the University of Santiago de Compostela and also, he is a Doctor in Public Health (2012) from the same University of Santiago de Compostela Spain. Since 1999 is currently a Professor of Psychology at the Al Azhar University-Gaza in Gaza Strip (Palestine). He is being co-responsible for teaching in various disciplines (Adolescence, Applied Statistics, Clinical Psychology, Descriptive Statistics, Developmental Psychology, Educational Counseling, Forensic Psychology, Fundamentals of Guidance & Counseling, General Psychology, Inferential Statistics, Introduction of Psychology, Physical and Sensory Disabilities, Principles of Statistics, Psychological Counseling, Psychology of the personality, Psychopathology, Psychotherapy, Social Psychology) in various Faculties of its university (Applied Medical Sciences, Arts and Human Sciences, Education). Since 2010 she has been a teacher in the Master of Psychology taught by Al Azhar University-Gaza (Advanced Social Psychology, Psycho-pedagogical Statistics, Research Methodology). He has carried out research stays at various foreign research centers (the Autonomous University of Madrid, Complutense University of Madrid, University of Almería, University of Barcelona, University of Santiago de Compostela, University of the Basque Country). He participated as a speaker at international conferences (Hungary, Mexico, Spain). He was invited to give presentations in the Training for Regional Development (Leader +) course organized by the Salamanca Association of Mountain Agriculture (5-8-2003; 3-8-2004). He has also given a presentation at the University School of Social Work of the Complutense University of Madrid) on Teaching Youth in Gaza (12-18-2008). He was invited on November 24, 2014, at the faculty of Psychology by Professor Antonio L. Manzanero of the Complutense University of Madrid for a conference on "Psychological effects of war on the Palestinian population of the Gaza Strip". On the other hand, she has represented the Palestinian National Authority in the Signing of the Agreement with the Junta de Castilla-León, for the financing of the Hispano-Palestine Children's School and the Classroom for the Promotion of Palestinian Women, in the city of Khan Yunis, Gaza Strip (July 1995). He is a collaborator of several international projects (COVID-19, personality, and quality of life: Self-enhancement in the time of pandemic (2020-Current, Poland); CEVI International Research Program (2016-Current, Switzerland); Narcissism (s) and self-esteem (s) in cross-cultural context (2016 - Current, Poland); Assessment of memories and psychological disorders associated to trauma in refugees and victims of war (2016-Current, Spain); Collective memory and social representations of history (2018-Current, Spain); Social decision-making in different contexts (2020-Current, Spain); Assessment of psychological trauma is particularly vulnerable refugees and asylum seekers (children and women) (2018-2019, Spain); Psychosocial needs assessment of refugees and asylum seekers (2016-2018, Spain); Do categories of emotional experience translate into emotion terms? The case of Felicidad, Happiness, and Saada (2008-2009, 141085-EM-1-2008-BE-ERA); International Study of Pro/Antisocial Behavior in Young Adults (SOCIALDEVIANCE1820) (2018 - 2020, Portugal). On the other hand, I have directed three Theses of the Master in Psychology. Since he is a Doctor of Public Health and lives in an area like the Gaza Strip, his research focuses on community health (prevention, promotion, and education about population health of Gaza) which is an area of public health action.
