Bruno Miranda, MD, PhD Bruno Miranda holds a Medical Degree (2006) from the University of Lisbon and a PhD in Neuroscience (2016) from University College London, developed under the International Neuroscience Doctoral Programme (INDP) at the Champalimaud Foundation. His doctoral research, supervised by Dr. Steven Kennerley and Prof. Peter Dayan (2017 Brain Prize Laureate), focused on computational models and neural signatures of distinct reinforcement learning strategies guiding decision-making. Clinically, he is a board-certified Neurologist (2019), with specialised training in epidemiological and patient-oriented research. His clinical research has explored cognitive and neurophysiological markers in neurodegenerative and cerebrovascular diseases, combining rigorous methodology with translational impact. Currently, he serves as a Junior Researcher and Assistant Professor at the Lisbon School of Medicine (University of Lisbon), and as a Researcher at the Medicine ULisboa for Health, Clinical Research and Innovation Institute. His ongoing research investigates how behaviour, emotions and decision-making frameworks can provide mechanistic insights into human-environment interactions and neuropsychiatric conditions. He integrates detailed behaviour and physiological analysis (including digital health and biomonitoring approaches), computational modelling, neurophysiology, and neuroimaging techniques. Dr. Miranda also leads transdisciplinary projects that apply neuroscience to other domains (such as urban planning and design and architecture in the emerging field of environmental neuroscience). He is committed to fostering collaborative research environments and delivering high-impact, cross-sectoral science.
