The year of 2019 marked the 20th anniversary of Macao’s handover and the establishment of the Macao SAR (Macao Special Administrative Region of People’s Republic of China). The round table proposal, hosted by the Orient Museum in Lisbon, was to debate the Macanese identity as a unique feature of the current society of the Macao SAR, as well as, one of its history singularities marks. 2013/12/16 - 2013/12/20 Winter School on Urban Hybridity in the Post-Colonial Age, Macao, P.R.C.Over the course of the week, I could present and discuss with the group my research project proposal, attend lectures from the programme’s convenors and local guests, and finally, conduct a mini ethnographic fieldwork in-group around Macao. The result of these explorations into the tangible and social dynamics of Macao was a series of short presentations on the final day of the programme, which helped me to get engaged with new theoretical paradigms regarding Asian contexts.
