Ana Maia, finished the Integrated Master Degree in Medicine in 2015 at Nova Medical School, Nova University of Lisbon. She is a Psychiatry Resident at Centro Hospitalar de Lisboa Ocidental since 2017 and a PhD student at the Neuropsychiatry Unit of Champalimaud Foundation since 2019. She is interested in translational clinical research in immunopsychiatry, particularly in obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), and she is currently study if alterations in immune function can explain the link between environmental risk factors and psychopathology in OCD. She was awarded with a doctoral studentship by Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, allowing her to interrupt temporarily residency in July 2020 to develop full-time her PhD project the the Champalimaud Foundation. Furthermore, Ana is also a lecturer in Medical Psychology at Nova Medical School, Nova University of Lisbon since 2017.
