Elisa Corti graduated in Biological Science in 2016 at the University of Milan, and two years later she graduated in Neuroscience at the University of Trieste. She moved to Coimbra as one of the 14 Early Stage Researchers within the EU-funded consortium Syn2Psy, where she completing her Ph.D. in Experimental Biology and Biomedicine (PDBEB) under the supervision of Prof. Carlos B. Duarte, Prof. Ramiro Almeida and Prof. Paulo Pinheiro. Her project focuses on understanding how Fragile X messenger ribonucleoprotein (FMRP) regulates synapse physiology, with a particular accent on synaptogenesis and synaptic plasticity. Elisa's field of expertise is broad, ranging from in vitro (preparation of primary hippocampal neurons cultures, imaging of fixed and living samples) to ex vivo experiments (electrophysiology in amygdala and hippocampus, subcellular fractions isolation). Up to now, Elisa published a review article and co-authored a paper published on Molecular Psychiatry, moreover she presented four posters to national and international conferences. Recently she has been awarded a Lab Hero award - Scholar category by HelloBio.

2021 - Current Participation in the European Researchers Night 2021 with different activities, dealing with the relationship between mental health and the environment: a quiz about neuroscience for teenagers and a true/false quiz for children, to show how beneficial nature is to out mental health.
2021/10/20 - 2021/10/23 Participation to the RNA Mechanisms and Brain Disease Conference. "The morphology and complexity of neurons provides unique challenges for the maintenance and modification of the neuronal transcriptome and proteome in the cell body and at synapses. In this meeting, lectures explored how neurons regulate RNA molecules and protein synthesis and how these mechanisms represent vulnerabilities for various neurological diseases."
