Prof. Dr. habil. Ewa A. Lukaszyk (b. 1972) is a European scholar working in global literary studies and the global history of ideas. She has built up such an encompassing area departing from her original specialization in Romance literature and Lusophone studies, and progressively developing a complementary interest in Islamic studies. From 1992 to 1997, she studied Romance philology at the Marie Sklodowska-Curie University in Lublin, eastern Poland, and Portuguese studies at the University of Lisbon. Later on, she also studied Comparative Literature in Lisbon and Oriental studies at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, where she obtained, in 1999, her Ph.D. and 2003, her habilitation in Portuguese literature. From 1997 to 2006, Ewa A. Lukaszyk was employed at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, and from 2006 to 2018, at the University of Warsaw. Recently, she has been a Calouste Gulbenkian fellow in Portugal (2016-2017), a Marie Sklodowska-Curie fellow in France (2017-2018), a guest researcher at Leiden University in the Netherlands (2018-2020) and, again in France, a fellow-in-residence at CY Advanced Studies (2020-2021). Ewa A. Lukaszyk is a prolific scholarly author, with seven major books, as well as over 200 other contributions (peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, edited volumes, reviews, translations, works-in-progress, and experimental essays), written in English, French, Portuguese, Spanish, and Polish. The bulk of these publications is distributed among various topics and fields of research in which she has been active, maintaining a constant focus on transcultural aspects and transgressive imagination, mysticism, and religious heterodoxies. She also analyses contemporary literature in a variety of comparative, trans-local, transcolonial, and transcultural approaches.
