Gustavo Capatti Cassiano is currently a Junior Researcher at the Medical Parasitology Unit of the Instituto de Higiene e Medicina Tropical at the Universidade de Lisboa (IHMT-NOVA) and a member of the Global Health and Tropical Medicine (GHTM) center, specializing in Chemoinformatics. Gustavo earned his PhD in Genetics from the Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) in 2014. He then completed two postdoctoral fellowships, one at the Universidade de Campinas (2016-2019) and another at IHMT-NOVA (2020-2022). Currently, his primary research focuses on Computer-Assisted Drug Design, with the goal of discovering new drug candidates for neglected tropical diseases, particularly malaria. He also has expertise in immunology and genetics related to malaria. Gustavo has supervised 7 MSc and PhD students across 3 different postgraduate programs, including one student who was awarded the Best PhD Thesis prize by the Brazilian Society of Parasitology. To date, he has authored 40 peer-reviewed journal articles and 3 book chapters, accumulating around 400 citations.
