Efecan Serin

Efecan Serin graduated from Ümran Barandan Fine Arts High School in 2010, which he entered through a special talent exam, placing third out of 350 candidates. She successfully completed her degree at Dokuz Eylul University Faculty of Education, Teaching Painting, Department of Graphic Design on 17/06/2014. Between 2013 and 2016, he served as an art teacher and assistant administrator in private and public schools. He left his master's degree at Dokuz Eylül University in 2015 and in 2016 began his master's degree in Graphic Design at ESAD.CR, in Portugal. In 2019, he completed his master's degree with a dissertation on reading difficulties based on the drawing of letters by students with learning difficulties and autism. He started a Ph.D. in Design at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Lisbon on 02/28/2020. He works in Humanities, Design Education and Design. The most used terms in the context of scientific, technological and artistic-cultural production in the ScienceVitae Curriculum are Letter Design, Typography, Reading Difficulties and Special Education. Since his graduation, he has participated in many exhibitions and exhibited many design works. Between 2016 and 2019, he worked as a graphic designer in the private sector. He also gave lectures on Portfolio preparation for applying to a university, as well as applying for a job, with workshops and online courses. The posters he made in 2016 were used and awarded at the international jazz festival. Since 2016 he has focused more on academic studies and as a result, in 2017, he designed Autistic Numbers for the number reading disabilities of individuals with autism. Since then, he has been examining the reading problems of individuals with autism and learning difficulties and has developed 12 different fonts according to their difficulties. This research was published in the indexed academic journal Visible Language, at the University of Cincinnati, in America in 2020. He also presented this investigation orally at the 10th International Typography Conference Porto Design Biennial, in 2019. Subsequently, he published an article on essential elements of design in education special in 2021. Between 2021 and 2022, it carried out a research and development project supported by the Portuguese government and IAMPE. He researched the design elements that will ensure individuals with learning disabilities, low IQ and autism learn or understand abstract words more easily for the Research portion of the R&D project. According to the research results, 250 abstract words, related illustrations and explanations were developed on 250 cards. In 2021, he became a member of the CIAUD research group TYPO.GRAPHICÆ. Today he continues his research studies as part of his Ph.D., accepted by CIAUD.
