Telmo M. Bento dos Santos is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Geology of FCUL - Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon and a Researcher at IDL - Instituto Dom Luíz since 2015, where he graduated in Geology (2003) and earned his PhD in Geochemistry (2008). Since then, he has been developing research in petrology, geochemistry and high-grade metamorphism, applying several techniques derived from geochronology, isotope geology, elemental geochemistry, petrology, geological mapping and structural analysis in order to find evidence of the geodynamic evolution of ancient orogenic belts and of the secular evolution of the lower crust. He has authored several scientific publications, has been editor and reviewer of several international scientific journals (e.g.: Scientific Reports and Data In Brief) and member of the Directive Bodies of both the Portuguese Association of Geologists and of the Geological Society of Portugal. His main topics of research include: a) Timing and rates of orogenic processes and thermal evolution of crustal terranes; b) Geochronological signatures of detrital/inherited zircon, sedimentary sources and paleogeographic reconstructions; c) Interdependence between metamorphism, shear zones and fluid circulation in ore formation; d) Evolution of the lower crust and interaction with other lithospheric reservoirs; e) Petrochronology and petrological constraints of metamorphic terranes.
