Luísa Magalhães (LM) is a Junior Researcher (2021.01858.CEECIND) with expertise in Biology and Ecology of Marine and Estuarine Ecosystems, specialized in bivalve diseases and its impacts on host population dynamics, broader community and ecosystem processes. Her research interests include the management and valorization of marine resources with high ecological and economic importance towards its sustainable exploitation following participatory processes. Luísa participated in 11 research projects, 2 as Principal Investigator (PI): COACH, funded by the Ocean Conservation Fund (56,775 euros, 2020-22) and the recently attributed Science Award Atlantic 2022, funded by FLAD (300,000 euros, 2023-25) to develop a project related to parasitic diseases in coastal marine ecosystems and their consequences, namely ecological, economic, and social impacts. She has published 30 ISI & Scopus papers, 1 book, and 25 communications at international meetings, in addition to numerous outreach initiatives.
