Lucie Militão holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Biochemistry, both from the University of Aveiro. For her bachelor's degree final project, she developed a methodology for synthesizing glycosylated 4-quinolones using ohmic heating. For her Master’s thesis, she explored advances in in vitro vascularization using human protein-based hydrogels and endothelial cells in 3D culture systems, contributing to innovative tissue engineering strategies. She completed an internship as a laboratory technician trainee at Centre Hospitalier Sud Francilien in France, gaining hands-on experience in biochemistry, microbiology, and hematology in a hospital laboratory setting. She also completed a curricular internship at Metatissue – Biosolutions, where she worked with human protein-based biomaterials, hydrogels, and endothelial cell culture for tissue engineering and 3D models. Throughout her academic journey, she has actively participated in various scientific events, including webinars, seminars, and workshops, which broadened her expertise across diverse areas. She was also awarded a Scholarship for Best Freshmen at the University of Aveiro. Currently, she is a PhD student in Biotechnology at the University of Aveiro and holds a Research Fellowship in the project “Reborn: Full human-based, multi-scale constructs with jammed regenerative pockets for bone engineering” (GA 883370), which is supported by the European Commission (H2020-NMBP) at CICECO – Aveiro Institute of Materials.
