I am a sociologist, assistant researcher at DINÂMIA'CET-Iscte, within the "Cities and Territories" research group where, in addition to my research, I am currently developing activities in the area of scientific management. Since September 2022, I am Invited Assistant Professor of Urban Sociology at Universidade Aberta. I have a degree in Sociology by the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Porto and a PhD in Urban Studies by Iscte - University Institute of Lisbon. I am executive editor of "Todas as Artes. Revista Luso-Brasileira de Artes e Cultura" [All the Arts. Luso-Brazilian Arts and Culture Journal], based at the Institute of Sociology of the University of Porto, and book review editor of the scientific journal "DIY, Alternative Cultures & Society" published by Sage. I am part of the scientific and executive committees of the KISMIF International Conference and the International Lusophone Meeting Todas as Artes, Todos os Nomes [All the Arts, All the Names]. I am part of three prestigious scientific research networks on music and culture: International Association for the Study of Popular Music - Portugal (IASPM-PT), of which I am a founding member, Urban Music Studies, Todas as Artes, Todos os Nomes. Recently, I integrated Cost Action CA21161 - "A new ecosystem of early music studies" (EarlyMuse). In June 2021, I concluded with distinction my PhD, funded by FCT, in which I investigated the construction of DIY music careers, in the independent scene, and their connection to urban space and local cultural policies in the metropolitan areas of Lisbon and Porto. My current academic research interests cover topics such as music, artistic careers, do-it-yourself, popular music, underground cultures, cultural policies, cultural and creative economy, as well as urban studies. Throughout my career I have participated in several national and international projects around these themes. Having artistic careers as one of my main areas of interest, and based on my doctoral research, in 2020, I created the podcast Corda Bamba, in which I talk with guests from various artistic areas about the working conditions and the daily life of an artist in Portugal. Currently I co-coordinate a science communication podcast from the research centre I am part of.
