Maria Catarina Tavares Botelho is a PhD student in Electrical and Computer Engineering, at Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa, since 2019. She is developing her research on the topic "Speech as a biomarker for speech affecting diseases" at INESC-ID. Her research interests focus on the use of speech for medical diagnosis, monitoring and therapy. She was a research intern at Google AI, Toronto, and a student researcher at the BioViualSeech project. She has developed her MSc Thesis on the use of speech as biomarker for sleep disorders and sleep deprivation. She has an Integrated Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering (2018), from Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa. She is a highly motivated and committed person, awarded with an Academic Merit Diploma from Instituto Superior Técnico during her Integrated Master’s Degree. She worked in the Association of Students of Biomedical Engineering for three years, where she developed skills of leadership, organization and communication. Her other passion is the classical ballet, which she has been practicing for 18 years.
