Ana Filipa Nogueira holds a degree in Biology and an MSc in Molecular and Cell Biology from the Universidade de Aveiro, Portugal. In late 2014 she started developing her bachelor¿s degree project titled "Effects of zinc pyrithione on biochemical parameters of the freshwater Asian clam Corbicula fluminea" under the supervision of Dr. Bruno Nunes, Dr. Joana Pereira and Dr. Sara Antunes at the Biology Department of Universidade de Aveiro. She initiated her MSc in Molecular and Cell Biology in September 2015. In 2017 she concluded her master's dissertation titled " Developmental, behavioral, biochemical and epigenetic effects of pharmaceuticals in larvae and embryos of Danio rerio" developed in the Biology Department of Universidade de Aveiro. These works contributed to her versatility and independence skills and resulted in two published papers, so far. She found her passion for research through her work in the hazards that pharmaceuticals for human and veterinarian use represent to the environment. Her passion and interest in environmental hazards research lead her to apply for a research grant in 2019, in which she was accepted. This grant aims to characterize the toxicity of relevant drugs and microplastics to marine organisms, with high interest in the aquaculture industry of the Aveiro area. This work resulted in four published papers, as of yet.
