Tatiana Faia holds a PhD in Ancient Greek Literature (University of Lisbon, 2015) written under the supervision of Oliver Taplin (University of Oxford) and Sofia Frade (University of Lisbon). Her doctoral dissertation is a study of characters, characterization and personality in Homer's Iliad (Back Across the Barrier of the Teeth. Studies on Homeric Characters: The Iliad). She held a teaching position in Lusophone Literature at the University of Cambridge (2013-2014). Prior to that she held a junior research position at the Centre for Classical Studies of the University of Lisbon, where she worked on the project "Fílon de Alexandria nas Origens da Cultura Ocidental" ("Philo of Alexandria in the Origins of Western Culture" - project supervisor: Professor Manuel Alexandre Júnior) (2008-2009). She collaborated with the CLEPUL-based project Central de Poesia (Poetry Central), for which she authored two papers on Classical Reception and Fernando Pessoa (2009-2014): one focused on Plato, Álvaro de Campos and Ruy Cinatti; the other compared Pessoa’s use of the classics and desire in «Antinous» to his discussion of classical aesthetics in «The Book of Disquiet». She has written extensively on Classics, Classical Reception, and Portuguese literature. She has also authored papers and book reviews on Modern Greek Culture and Italian Literature. She collaborates regularly with a number of Portuguese journals (including Relâmpago and Forma de Vida). Her research interests are Classical Studies, Classics, Poetry, Southern European Modernism, Comparative World Literature, Epic Poetry, Portuguese Literature and Literary tradition. She is one of the editors of the independent publishing project Enfermaria 6.
